The issues of income and wealth inequality continue to reverberate in the press and public discussions. The subject was amped up earlier this year with the publication of Capital in The 20th Century by Thomas Piketty. The book by the MIT-educated French economist quickly rose to number one on The New York Times best seller list. I recently stumbled across a five page summary of the issues by Piketty and his frequent co-author Emmanuel Saez of the University of California at Berkeley entitled Inequality in the Long Run. Although not an easy read, this five page summary (and seven page supplement) will save you reading the 696 pages of Le Capital au XXle Siecle as the original French edition was titled. Bon chance.
